Saturday, May 7, 2022 - The Garden Party at Andalusia 

Despite the weather, the party went on as scheduled, and everyone had an enjoyable evening under the heated tent!

Each year, friends and guests enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and breathtaking blooms at Andalusia Historic House, Gardens and Arboretum during our Garden Party fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the Annual Fund of The Andalusia Foundation, the nonprofit that works to preserve the gardens and buildings of this National Historic Landmark.

This year's special honoree was Jenny Rose Carey. Jenny is a renowned gardener, educator, historian, and author, and the former senior director at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Meadowbrook Farm in Jenkintown. She previously worked at Temple University for over a decade, first as an adjunct professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture and then as director of the Ambler Arboretum. Jenny Rose has been lecturing nationally and internationally for many years. She is an avid hands-on gardener who has gardened in both England and the United States. Her Victorian property, Northview, contains diverse garden spaces, including a cutting garden, an herb garden, a dry garden, and various mixed flower beds. Jenny Rose and her gardens have been featured on the PBS series The Victory Garden, in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Grow magazine, and The Pennsylvania Gardener. Jenny is a Trustee of Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum and serves on its Horticultural Committee.

During our 2022 event, Jenny Rose Carey received the inaugural Letitia Glenn Biddle Society Award! This new society honors those who advance the enduring legacy of horticulture which affects all of our sensibilities and well-being, particularly those who have made contributions in one or more of the following categories so valued by Letitia Glenn Biddle herself:

1. Land Stewardship

2. The art and craft of horticulture and design

3. Horticulture Education

4. The fostering of opportunities for professionals working in the field of horticlture
